Welcome to Jackson's Mill
Sometimes in life we stumble upon something extraordinary, and for us that is Jackson's Mill.
The Mill is part of the landscape; this grand old lady has stood proudly on the edge of a limestone escarpment, overlooking the 'race' and floodplain beyond, since circa. 1845. She has had a pivotal role within the community around Collins Creek, formerly as Glen Coe, a flour Mill, and in her later years as a saw mill; finally retiring in 1972 after more than a century as a working mill.
Over the past 30 years she has been lovingly cared for; every post and beam restored to original splendour, the wide plank floors polished and the central chimneys exposed as the centrepiece of the property. The original sack scales are still working in the foyer, the sack lift shaft is clearly visible, and the mill equipment within the grounds remind us of a bygone era in her life.
As spring turns to summer, autumn and then winter, the Mill never ceases to delight.

From the panoramic view of the surrounding countryside, almost unchanged since the Mill was built; to the sunsets that linger across the horizon in the evening; the race that tumbles down the limestone, and the changing colours of the trees as far as the eye can see.

There is no place quite like it.

The Mill seamlessly blends into its surroundings having been constructed of local materials of the 1800's. It represents the best of Canadian heritage and the pioneering spirit; built from massive posts and beams with exposed limestone walls to the lower area and cedar cladding to the upper, and the most magnificent wide planked pine floors in the Great Room, Dining Room and Kitchen.

It is one of only a relatively few Canadian Mills that have survived the passage of time after their working lives were over. Jackson's Mill is a fine example of the craftsmanship of the period, and it is a credit both to the pioneers that first established the mill and to those more recent pioneers who have been tireless in their efforts to create a magnificent home, with respect for the preservation of the heritage yet also providing for the needs of the modern day.

It is a place where the past and future come together in perfect unison.
