The Mill race started running on October 30th. Rainfall in the area has been heavier than normal this October and the result was as the photo on the upper left. The Race 'turned on' suddenly as it does and the flow has increased over the last day - it is anyone's guess how long the race will run this time. The photo on the lower left shows the floodplain and the race flow spreading out onto it.
Since the Mill was put up for sale in May 2006 there has been interest from all over Eastern North America and from further away with enquiries from as far afield as Massachusetts, Ohio and even Holland.
One offer was accepted in May, but had to be released in August as the buyer was unable to fulfill all of the requisite conditions as regards the sale of other property.
The Mill remains for sale at present, although perhaps we should instead be saying that we are still looking for someone who wishes to take on the position of 'Miller. For anyone interested who is in the Kingston area, now would be a good time to visit Jackson's Mill, as one of the reasons it is such a special place is immediately obvious.
