Mill Contest!! What was that??!!?

Grand Mill Contest

Mill Race Still Running

Details of the Grand Mill 'What was that??!!?' Contest are set out in 'Mill News – November 17th’ Please Scroll Down or Click Here

Entries to the ‘what was that?’ contest received as of 21 November. (www.jacksons-mill.com and the Miller accept no responsibility for the opinions expressed below by contest entrants)

Barbara from Kingston writes:

‘My guess is "A Bear". Can it be???’

John from Ottawa:

‘On close scrutiny of your 'deposit'', I suggest that it's remains of ET's hard night with red wine and a large Tandoori supper. On second thought, perhaps the droppings of a large ruminant, perhaps a moose’

Angie from near Barrie:

‘It's the dump my horse took just before I rode off into the sunset. Second guess: Is it bear s***?’

Tony from Hong Kong:

‘the texture looks racoonish, but the mass looks too big. I will guess Wolverine. Or small black bear….

(BTW: My brother John came up with Wolverine, I am sticking with Bear..)

Kate from Luanda, Angola

‘Piles of stuff look like a cross between a mole hill and a moose. Tell me it was something exciting like a yeti or an anteater!’

Juliet from Byron Bay, Australia

Pterodactyl s*** or… (unprintable)’ No Juliet, that’s not what it was

And you thought they were extinct?
The Miller Replies:

Not a bear, not a moose, nor moles, not even Angie’s horse. Not Pterodactyl (although the Mill area abounds with them – see photograph of Pterodactyl taken on Burbrook Road near Mill).

Okay, so it’s not really a Pterodactyl. Back to ‘What was that??!!? Not a Yeti nor an anteater although it will certainly be exciting if you happen to be too close. Ruth, the Miller’s sister, a family physician who lives two miles away, had a good look, then grabbed a handful, rubbed it through her fingers, stuck her nose in it and sniffed. ‘It’s not poop”, she declared, “it’s dirt’ The contest is still open since the dirt was not deposited by human hands.
